Summary:
The HRIS and Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and partnering with our Payroll Administrator ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. This role supports HR operations by ensuring data integrity, troubleshooting system issues, and generating reports. The Specialist collaborates with HR and IT teams to optimize HRIS functionality and payroll processes.
Essential Functions:
- Administer and maintain the HRIS, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Process payroll in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of employee data, including hires, terminations, promotions, and compensation changes.
- Generate reports and provide data analysis to support HR and business needs.
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with IT or external vendors for resolution.
- Maintain compliance with payroll-related policies, laws, and company procedures.
- Assist in system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new HR technology solutions.
- Provide training and support to HR staff and employees on HRIS usage.
- Process payroll adjustments, garnishments, and tax-related transactions.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of employee records and HRIS data.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of HRIS platforms and payroll systems (Bonus points for BambooHR experience!)
- Understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HR reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
- Experience with HRIS implementation or system upgrades.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or HRIS certification.
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years of experience in payroll processing and HRIS administration.
- Experience with payroll tax compliance and HR data reporting.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, and photocopiers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position requires the incumbent to be physically present at the assigned worksite. The regular schedule is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an hour lunch, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Employees are also expected to work at least one non-convention farm event a year and to work at the annual company convention.
Exact hour requirements can be reasonably modified as necessary for the business needs by the employee’s manager.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to type, file, and occasionally lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate the scent of essential oils worn or diffused.
