The Summer Day Camp Teacher leads a group of children in a variety of activities, experiences, and relationship building.
The Summer Day Camp Teacher is responsible for creating an environment with a teaching team that promotes each child’s development and supports children and their family’s diverse needs and interest.
Schedule:
We offer a variety of flexible schedules. This is a seasonal position with full-time and part-time schedules available. Operations are Monday through Friday from 7:00am-6:00pm. Hiring will begin in April and training starts mid-May. Pay: $15.15 - $18.94/hr DOE.

Requirements:
- Create an environment that fosters safety though active supervision and by role modeling safe behavior.
- Nurture children through purposeful programs dedicated to building relationships, achievement, and belonging.
- Develop intentional relationships and maintain effective daily communication with participants and parents.
- Implement the established curriculum that achieves the five Cause Measurement goals.
- Use positive behavior guidance techniques to support children’s appropriate development and behavior.
- Monitor and ensure the health and safety of participants, families, staff, and volunteers by following and implementing Child Development Branch approved Leading Practices.
- Use Y Core Values, developmentally appropriate practices, and effective teaching strategies to support each child’s unique background, needs and different learning styles.
Qualifications:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Minimum 1 year working with children is preferred.
- Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
