POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pool Attendants at the pool are responsible for providing excellent customer service while operating the front desk and concessions stand. These positions play a crucial role in creating a positive first impression ensuring smooth operations and guest experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet guests in a friendly and welcoming manner when they enter the facility or concessions area.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly.
- Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately.
- Manage lost and found operations.
- Provide information about facility amenities, programs, schedules, and policies.
- Manage the admission process, including selling day passes.
- Take and process orders accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure that all food items are fresh, properly stored, and safely handled.
- Balance cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Handle credit/debit card transactions and provide correct change to customers.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including counters and equipment. Assists in the inventory, stocking, and cleaning of assigned areas.
- Professionally communicate in person and over the phone.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, staff activities and ongoing trainings.
- Communicate any concerns, repairs, or incidents that may need follow-up to the Outdoor Pool Manager/Aquatics Director.
- Follow all YMCA policies and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Pool Manager and Aquatic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification required within 60 days of employment (YMCA provided).
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Six months or more of related customer service experience preferred.
- Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
- Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
- Never been accused or convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time, to talk and hear, to sit, to bend and reach. Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations. Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, scooping, pouring, stocking, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time. The ability to calmly and effectively react in an emergency situation.
