Job Title: Group Fitness Instructor

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Group Fitness Instructor instructs quality group fitness classes, provides excellent customer service to members in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead quality group fitness classes, as directed by the Director of Healthy Living, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
- Conduct energizing, fun, safe, and educational classes; responding to and reporting any accidents or incidents.
- Maintain working knowledge of fitness industry and YMCA trends to provide effective information and training to members.
- Keep accurate class attendance records.
- Be able to respond and follow YMCA policies and procedures in emergency situations.
- Consistently promote all YMCA group exercise classes to members and non-members.
- Help participants set up their equipment prior to class and are available for questions before and after class.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required Certifications: National Certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Certification.
- Certification in areas of expertise (Les Mills, Silver Sneakers, RIPPED, etc.).
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 60 days of hire (YMCA provided).
- Preferred at least one year experience teaching group fitness classes.
- Must have flexible schedule.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Friendly and outgoing personality.
- Ability to interact and build relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Never been convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse.
