POSITION SUMMARY:
The Aquatics and Sports Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and administration of all aquatics and sports programming for the YMCA. Administration employee schedules and events, as well as pool schedules, lifeguard schedules, and in-service trainings. In addition but not limited to helping with family activities such as Healthy Kids day and the annual Giving Tree Project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide direct supervision and maintain high safety standards during recreational and instructional swimming.
Prepare and manage the Aquatics and Sports department budgets.
Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate all Aquatics and Sports Staff.
Maintain knowledge of current trends in Aquatics and Sports industry to be able to implement new programs and ideas.
Develop and implementation of Youth Sports programs for both branches.
Conduct, evaluate, and control in-service trainings, safety drills, and guidelines for Aquatic safety.
Hold skills necessary to substitute for subordinate employees as required in case of staff shortages.
Maintain adequate records to evaluate control and measure the effectiveness of Aquatic and Sports programs to aid in membership retention.
Uphold current facility maintenance in all major areas of responsibility.
Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA.
Maintain a positive, cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Aquatics and Fitness Coordinator is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of all departments. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Technical and proficient working knowledge of pool chemical operations and hold a CPO certification. If CPO is not current, must obtain within 6 months.
Ability to develop and implement aquatic and sports programs.
Ability to foster positive staff, peers and program participants.
Ability to supervise multiple part-time staff and ensure the overall safety.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
