Position Overview

The Finance Director will oversee all financial activities of the YWCA, working collaboratively with senior leadership to ensure sound financial management, strategic planning, and alignment with our mission. This role includes managing budgets, preparing financial reports, guiding investment strategies, and fostering equitable and trauma-informed financial policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Oversight :

Direct and monitor all financial activities, including managing cash flow, budgets, and grants.

Ensure accuracy and compliance through internal and external audits.

Manage the organization's $1 million in grant funding and investment portfolios.

Budgeting & Reporting :

Develop and implement the annual organizational budget and department-specific budgets.

Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and provide regular financial updates.

Analyze financial data to identify trends and present findings to the Board of Directors and leadership team.

Strategic Financial Planning :

Provide expert financial planning and forecasting advice to guide the organization's long-term sustainability.

Support department leaders in managing and reporting their budgets effectively.

Leadership & Equity :

Lead the finance department, ensuring processes are trauma-informed and equitable.

Train and mentor team members to support organizational growth.

Facilitate the development and implementation of a department equity plan.

Stakeholder Engagement :

Serve as the staff lead for the monthly Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.

Communicate financial updates to Board Members and other stakeholders effectively.

Grant Management :

Oversee the development of grant budgets and compliance with funding guidelines.

Monitor grant-related expenses and support grant reporting processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master's Degree and / or CPA preferred.

7-10 years of experience with increasing responsibility and leadership roles, preferably in a nonprofit environment.

Commitment to the mission of the YWCA : eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and other business software.

Strong knowledge of financial forecasting, accounting principles, and data analysis.

Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation expertise.

Outstanding integrity, moral judgment, and the ability to manage responsibilities under pressure.

Strong leadership, multitasking, and delegation skills.
