Youngblood Automation, a distributor and representative of leading automation components and equipment, seeks a motivated and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Grand Rapids.

As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will work closely with the division Controller to learn the accounting department job functions. Responsibilities include performing A/P, invoicing, and general accounting for the division. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Additionally, this role assists with other accounting projects as determined by the Controller and division President.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee payables.
- Forward any issues to the Controller and/or President.
- Assist with monthly bank reconciliations.
- Take credit card payment by phone, process the transaction, and post to the appropriate account after approval.
- Perform reconciliation of the monthly credit card statement.
- Enter payables into our computer system after verifying them for accuracy.
- Resolve any A/P discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Process weekly and monthly payments to our suppliers.
- Post journal entries and assist with the maintenance of the general ledger.
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly financial statements and performance reports.
- Assist with tax compliance filings (sales tax, use tax, and property tax returns).
Background & Experience
- Associates degree in accounting, or actively working toward a degree preferred.
- Relevant accounting internship or work experience preferred.
- Strong math aptitude, analytical skills and attention to detail are necessary.
- Willingness to learn, be coached, and collaborate in a friendly, team environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Excel.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent data-entry skills - must possess both speed and accuracy.
