Summary of Position
Represents the University's programs in a variety of contexts to constituents and partners around the world. Responds verbally and in writing to admissions and general inquiries. Evaluates foreign educational credentials. Manages admissions files in Ellucian Recruit and Banner and coordinates related processes. Assists with the entry and transfer and equating of foreign and domestic credentials. Assists with orientation processes including the verification of authentic educational credentials, the documentation of mandatory vaccinations/testing and enrollment and re-enrollment in international health insurance.
Position Information
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Works in coordination with departmental colleagues and other offices to advise and admits students to all University programs.
Serves as Designated School Official which is the contact point for international students regarding visa compliance, Optional Practical Training (OPT), and Curricular Practical Training (CPT).Provides guidance on OPT/CPT eligibility, reviews and endorses OPT/CPT applications, manages data in SEVIS, and assists with reporting and employment changes. Issues i20's to international applicants who are admitted to the university. Adheres to policies and regulations related to the i20 issuance process. Advises prospective students on i20 process.
Advises prospective students on admissions processes. Responds to admissions queries as required. Processes applications for international admission.
Provides primary evaluation of applicant transcripts, diplomas, test scores, certificates, and other supporting documents from international applicants.
Processes and records admitted student information into Banner. Issues admittance decision to prospective students.
Maintains regular communication with Graduate, Undergraduate, ELI and Special Programs prospective students concerning the admissions and enrollment process.
Collaborates with various University departments as needed to implement the international enrollment plan.
Works with external University partners as appropriate to facilitate the recruitment and admission of prospective students. University partners include, but are not limited to, YSU representatives, agents, recruiters, high school counselors, and representatives of online platforms/companies which connect students with U.S. universities.
Actively supports international orientation by verifying original and authentic educational credentials and assisting with documentation of the mandatory vaccination and testing schedule.
Cooperates and collaborates with all areas of the University involved in international matters.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:Assists with training new hires.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over student employees.
