Summary of Position
Position Information
Reviews recommendations by lower-level staff regarding the assigned area’s policies and procedures as it relates to completion of work and/or provision of services; prepares recommendations to supervisor regarding the assigned area’s policies and procedures as it relates to completion of work and/or provision of services.
Utilizes reports and other information/documentation in strategic, and regular, planning of the assigned area; prepares reports, recommendations, and other information/documentation to assist in strategic planning of the assigned area.??
Supervises the day-to-day functionality and assumes general oversight of the assigned area’s operations and services as related to any assigned program, initiative, or objective. Directs daily tasks related to the full scope of a department’s/division’s overall programs and/or services.
Regularly communicates with supervisor and other staff, including student workers, as required or needed in the completion of daily tasks in support of the department’s/division’s overall goals and objectives.
Reviews and/or monitors records of daily tasks in accordance with the department’s/division’s (or University’s) policies and procedures and assures timely communication with supervisor, staff, and students where appropriate.
Gathers data and prepares reports and other information/documentation for review?related to the department’s/division’s programs and/or services, or one or more assigned components thereof.
Prepares for and attends events.
Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; participates in staff development activities; attends meetings, conferences, and other events.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires to include both student and regular employees.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor, divisional leaders, or the university administration.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday; available to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over staff and students.

Qualifications and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor’s degree and at least four years of related experience in management/higher education. Demonstrated experience in project management, administration, programming, and/or supervision.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in higher education, college student personnel, or another related field. Prior work experience providing leadership and direction. Prior work experience creating and maintaining an organization that provides exemplary customer service and high levels of patron satisfaction. Demonstrated experience in recruiting and developing/managing an outstanding staff/team. Prior budget management experience.
