As the Director of Proposal Development, you will lead a professional team of proposal writers. You will manage the overall company solution related to bid content development and the proposal process when responding to requests for proposals (RFP) and requests for information (RFI). You will develop compelling technical solutions by collaborating with subject matter experts, executives, and other stakeholders and present our solution in a voice that connects with government agencies. You will be the point-person related to our market position, which includes opportunity planning and potential new business lines. What you will do:
- Manage all aspects of the proposal process including, but not limited to, drafting the outline, assigning sections, creating the proposal timeline, scheduling calls and reviews
- Review and update internal proposal preparation procedures to strengthen the broad proposal development process, proactively seeking and sharing feedback with stakeholders across the organization and implement progressive change
- Provide quality assurance in the form of copy and substantive editing, formatting, content, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and corporate branding
- Conduct systematic reviews for successful and unsuccessful bids to assess performance of proposals, evaluating the accuracy and clarity of key themes and messages, comparing to competitors (where possible), and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Create and maintain proposal content management for business line templates to maintain strong, relevant templates
- Assess and improve the visual approach to proposals to ensure a modern, effective look and feel
- Check procurement websites following approved search terms, identify opportunities, monitor contracts and submit Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests
Who you are:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- 5 years of experience responding to RFPs, preferably in a federal or state proposal development environment
- 3 years of supervisory experience or related experience managing projects
- Ability to work with subject matter experts to quickly learn technical concepts and translate them into high quality templates and proposals
- Excellent interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and ability to work productively with all levels in an organization
- Superior organizational skills with a process and detail-oriented mindset
- Excellent writing, editorial, and proofreading skills
- Expert knowledge with Microsoft Word including formatting and use of review tools (track changes and comments)
- Knowledge and proficiency of other MS Office suite applications like Excel, PowerPoint and cloud-based team collaboration software and systems (SharePoint and Teams)
- Competent with Adobe Acrobat Pro
It would be great if you also have:
- Association of Proposal Management Professionals Certification
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other content creation tools
Position is based at our Corporate Home office in Ridgeland , MS or can be filled as a Telework position.
