Job Summary:
Reporting to the President / CEO, the Controller will direct the company’s fiscal functions to include accounting, financial reporting, preparation and implementation of budgets and compliance utilizing GAAP standards, as related to the company’s financial and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will provide managerial oversight of related departments to include, Accounting, Human Resources, Payroll and Administration. In addition, the ideal candidate will have proven recent success within a similar role in a construction environment.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Oversee and perform detailed GL reconciliations accurately and in a timely manner;
Manage and file sales and use tax returns for multi-jurisdictional contracting projects, including research and resolution of tax discrepancies;
Collaborate with Project Accounting team, to ensure accurate accrual and payment of sales/use/gross receipts taxes;
Supervise and mentor Administration team, providing guidance, administering performance evaluations and professional development opportunities;
Oversee state and local tax licensing administration, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements and timely renewals;
Manage and ensure compliance with multi-state payroll tax regulations, including proper setup and reporting;
Administer worker’s compensation and insurance audit reporting, ensuring accurate documentation and resolution of discrepancies;
Prepare consolidated financial statements, including performing intercompany account reconciliations and ensuring accuracy across entities;
Support financial reporting processes for government contracts, ensuring compliance with FAR, GAAP, and other applicable regulatory standards;
Prepare corporate tax accounting and reporting, in accordance with GAAP standards;
Manage job cost and equipment revenue accounting;
Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring the availability and accuracy of required documentation;
Engage with all levels of the company to provide financial insight, support decision-making and address inquiries;
Represent the company in connection with external entities, to include, auditors, tax authorities and regulatory agencies;
Continuously improve accounting processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; MBA or CPA designation a plus;
Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP), preferred, but must be willing to study for and pass the certification exam otherwise;
Proficiency in MS Office Excel and Vista construction accounting software;
Experience with ERP systems and Procore software, a plus;
5 – 7 years of experience in a similar senior-level accounting capacity within the construction industry;
Proficiency in GL accounting, consolidated financials and corporate taxation;
Experience with government contracting accounting;
Astute oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
Exceptional organizational, analytical, time management, problem-solving, multi-tasking and attention to detail skills.
Compensation:
$145K - $185K annual base salary DOE, for this full-time, exempt position.
