Summary:
The Outreach Specialist leads the organization’s ongoing community engagement and program recruitment activities. An Outreach Specialist must be able to professionally and effectively represent the organization and communicate the benefits of engagement to various audiences, with the dual goal of securing business partners and participants for YAP programming.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Initiates, organize and participates in community events and outreach opportunities to establish business partnerships, promote the organization and its programs, and serve as a "go-to resource" for youth-service information.
- Establishes and maintains partnerships with local businesses and community-based organizations as work experience placement sites and service provision.
- Stays abreast of the local labor market and maintains knowledge of a wide variety of suitable job opportunities for participants/alum.
- Keeps program staff apprised of local business needs and job placement opportunities; assists case management staff with facilitating job placements and retention.
- Maintains follow-up contact with employers to determine satisfaction with services and plan for quality improvement as needed.
- Develops an annual recruitment plan that leads to the achieving target enrollment numbers across all programs.
- Advertise, screen, and recruit for program enrollment and staffing needs.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of related experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, experience with social media applications, and relevant software programs such as Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills with the ability to work in a culturally diverse community setting.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Requirements:
- The person in this position must be able to remain stationary and stand/move about for extended periods in both indoor and outdoor environments to conduct outreach and administrative responsibilities.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- The person in this position frequently communicates, internally and externally, regarding enrollment and eligibility-related matters.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- The person in this position frequently travels to attend community events and meet at business partner locations. A valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance are required for the use of a personal vehicle to conduct business.
