POSITION SUMMARY: The accountant will be responsible for assisting with overseeing and managing all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and general ledger functions. This position manages the daily supervision of the Accounts Payable Specialist. This role will collaborate with the fiscal team to ensure accurate and timely financial data, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the effective management of financial processes.

WHAT YOU NEED: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Five plus years of experience in accounting, with a strong understanding of financial statements and general ledger processes. Non-profit experience preferred. Preference given to applicants with experience in a government or non-profit agency. Supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements: Position requires employees to work with computers most of the day. Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and travel on an occasional basis. Ability to lift 25 pounds, bend, stand and sit for extended periods of time.

Essential Functions
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suites
- Manages daily supervision of Accounts Payable
- Maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or leadership
- Ability to arrive/report to work on time and ready to work
- Ability to abide by principles of EEO compliance and demonstrate a workplace of dignity and respect
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting
- Ability to show respect to others
- Ability to take guidance and direction from supervisors
- Ability to abide by core values and mission statement of the agency
- Oversee fixed assets and construction in process
- Monitor lease software
- Process cash receipts
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payment and collection processes and ensure proper recording of invoices and payments
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues with customers or vendors
- Prepare weekly check runs
- Assist with reviewing spending plans and annual budgets
- Post month-end closing journal entries
- Assist with the preparation of internal and external reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights to management
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner
- Assist in preparing and coordinating the year-end audit process, including working with external auditors
- Maintains accounting operations and recommends and implements procedures for improved efficiency
- Research special projects requested and when deemed necessary to benefit the department
- Protects organization's value by keeping confidential information
- Maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or leadership
