What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Cycle Project Program Director position at Youth Cycle Project?
www.youthcycleproject.org
Youth Cycle Project is a non-profit organization that focuses on teaching riding skills to young riders to instill safe and healthy habits that allow riders of all ages to enjoy the freedom of riding a bike. We also focus on team-building skills by encouraging and askinghelp from peers and others.
We are in search of an adult who can commit to coaching our summer camps. Weekly day camps run from 9 am to 3 pm and typically accommodate 8 campers. Depending on the camp’s listed difficulty level, the terrain consists of beginner to advanced single-track riding at a variety of local riding locations such as Bradbury Mountain and Blackstrap Preserve. In addition to riding and coaching there are daily administrative duties such as camper registration and schedule management. As this is a day camp position the organization does not provide housing.
Suitable candidates are required to have experience working with children and their parents such as in a daycare, camp counseling, or teaching environment. Outdoor experience is necessary to be successful in this position, as some of the camps are entirely outdoors, weather permitting for safe riding. Light rain can and will still be ridden in, thunder and lightning will not.
No prior mountain bike coaching experience is required due to our younger support staff who have spent multiple years within our program. Any individuals interested must have experience riding mountain bikes, preferably 3 or more years. We don’t require candidates to be highly skilled mountain bikers, but they do need to be able to navigate some blue and black-rated trails. Our camps encourage riders to dismount on features which they feel they are not ready to ride and this applies to coaching staff as well!
Any interested candidates should reach out to info@youthcycleproject.com with a resume of relevant information. Upon making contact, an interview and ride with one of our staff will be scheduled to evaluate riding skills.
