The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioned Inspector will conduct undercover tobacco compliance inspections at retail locations across North Carolina. The inspector will be responsible for following strict federal and state protocols to ensure adherence to the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioned Inspector will conduct undercover tobacco compliance inspections at retail locations across North Carolina. The inspector will be responsible for following strict federal and state protocols to ensure adherence to the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Undercover Buy (UB) and Advertising & Labeling (A&L) inspections at retail tobacco outlets.
- Ensure proper evidence collection and documentation of findings.
- Enter inspection results into the FDA Tobacco Inspection Management System (TIMS).
- Coordinate with federal and state program coordinators on compliance enforcement actions.
- Provide testimony and declarations for enforcement or judicial actions if necessary.
- Maintain chain of custody for evidence and adhere to FDA and North Carolina guidelines.
- Participate in annual training and professional development sessions.

Requirements
- Law enforcement background (preferred but not required).
- Must pass a federal background check and obtain FDA clearance.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel statewide.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict compliance protocols.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
