Role And Responsibilities
- Responsible for the collections for organizational programs related to our Behavioral Health Services for our regional offices and on campus.
- Monitors Accounts Receivable balances daily, places collections calls, resolves issues to ensure timely payment from the insurance companies. Reviews eligibility of insurance in AdvancedMD and other computerized systems.
- Reviews denied claims reports on a weekly basis and resolves issues pertaining to those denials by conducting research and completing corrected claims or providing supplemental documentation.
- Develops strong relationships with all therapists to resolve any issues with client records for billing and collections.
- Recommends changes in billing procedures in response to insurance industry and agency changes that impact funding for services.
- Serves as backup to Billing and Collections Coordinator – Residential, on-campus accounts and will provide support during peak volume times.
- Assists other finance staff with fundraising or other accounting functions as needed.
- Attendance at all training mandated by YFT.
- All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720).
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO/CFO/Controller.
What you'll need to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred, but not required.
- 2-3 years’ experience with handling billing and collections could be substituted for college degree
- Experience in billing and collections for Medicaid, other governmental agencies, and private insurance companies preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, accounting software, Magellan, AdvancedMD, and FAMCare is a plus.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with all levels of management, employees, and outside agencies
- Maintains a high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
