Position Overview
Are you a master 's-leve l student in counseling or social work looking for real-world experience? Youth Outreach Services (YOS) is seeking Counseling Interns to support youth ages 12-21 dealing with mental health and substance use challenges.
As a Counseling Intern , you will :
- Provide weekly individual counseling sessions to assist youth with mental health or substance use issues.
- Complete intake assessments and maintain accurate client progress notes.
- Use the 7 Challenges Program to guide youth through decision-making regarding drug and alcohol use.
- Communicate with referral sources (courts, probation officers, schools, hospitals, etc.).
- Conduct group and family counseling sessions and participate in home or school visits as needed.
- Cover Letter - Explain why you're interested and what you hope to gain from this internship.
- Resume - Highlight relevant experience and education.
- Preferred Location - Indicate whether you're applying for IYC Chicago, IYC Warrenville, or IYC St. Charles .
- Master's-level student in counseling or social work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
This internship offers hands-on experience in individual and group therapy , case management, and treatment planning.

Unpaid Internship (Eligible for Academic Credit)
YOS is an approved site for many colleges / universities and can coordinate with your school.
