2025-2026 General Counseling Internship - Juvenile Justice IYC

Schedule: Minimum 16 hours per week (24 hours preferred)
Position Overview
Are you a master βs-level student in counseling or social work looking for real-world experience? Youth Outreach Services (YOS) is seeking Counseling Interns to support youth ages 12-21 dealing with mental health and substance use challenges.
As a Counseling Intern, you will:

Provide weekly individual counseling sessions to assist youth with mental health or substance use issues.
β
Complete intake assessments and maintain accurate client progress notes.
β
Use the 7 Challenges Program to guide youth through decision-making regarding drug and alcohol use.
β
Communicate with referral sources (courts, probation officers, schools, hospitals, etc.).
β
Conduct group and family counseling sessions and participate in home or school visits as needed.
This internship offers hands-on experience in individual and group therapy, case management, and treatment planning.
