POSITION: RHY Crisis On Call Worker
QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals seeking a social worker degree, or those with demonstrated experience in social services. Demonstrated interest in and ability to understand the general problems and needs of youth (ages 11-17) and their families. Sensitivity and responsiveness to the cultural differences of individuals and families in groups outside one’s own culture.
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time Hourly, non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Youth Outreach Services
Summary: Scheduled on call work to assist with crisis situations.
I. Duties
· Participates in 24-hour crisis emergency on-call rotation.
· Responds to police departments in the five-county service area (LaSalle, Bureau, Putnam, Marshall, and Stark).
· Uses crisis intervention skills to respond to youth who have run away or who are homeless.
· Hands off the crisis case to the Crisis Intervention Caseworker the day after the crisis occurs.
· Obtains proper releases and consents and safeguards the confidentiality of all records.
· Refers to other community resources and specialized services as appropriate.
· Ensures all necessary documentation is properly signed and in the client file.
II. Support Services
· Develops a working knowledge of, and establishes and cultivates cooperative professional relationships with, community resources, allied agencies, and referral sources.
· Participates in YSB staffing and team meetings when needed.
· Maintains on-going case file for each youth which is up to date and documents all contacts.
· Other duties as assigned.
