Description

Job Summary:

The Grant Specialist is part of the Administrative Team and responsible for working closely with the CEO and the CFO in forecasting agency programmatic and capital needs that align with our agency strategic plan as well as state/national trends and best practices.  The Grant Specialist performs state and federal grant research, writing, and assure proper submission of grant applications by established deadlines. The GS is expected to work in collaboration with Directors and Managers to assure YSS is implementing grant as approved in accordance with contract and Statement of Work.  The Grant Specialist will work closely with Directors and Managers to assure that systems are in place to gather necessary reporting information. The GS will work closely with CEO and CFO to track, monitor and assure timely submission of all program and financial reports.  This position will work with state and federal funders to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships. The GS will ensure compliance with safe work practices and maintain safe environments with established agency standards, licensing regulations and generally accepted practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective state and federal grant proposals, monitors and meets deadlines, as well as, presents reports based on the organizational needs
  • Persuasively communicate organization’s mission and programs to potential funders and stakeholders
  • Understand the need of the organization and perform relevant research for new grant opportunities and evaluate the results
  • Develop core grant writing components to support grant writing applications and submissions
  • Submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets and presentations
  • Ensure the grants are implemented in accordance with agency policies, licensing regulations, operational and financial needs of the organization
  • Identify and develop strategies to optimize the grant administration process
  • Work with Dir. Of Development to ensure acknowledgment of funders/investors via website, e-newsletter, and social media
  • Prepare budget plans and allocations along with the finance department in accordance with grant requirements
  • Assist the Finance Department with the preparation and submission of reports to maintain grant compliance
  • Analyze the budget trends and make recommendations for budget adjustments
  • Monitor and maintain funder reporting schedules and requirements
  • Work collaboratively with Directors and Managers to assure proper documentation for reporting as required by grantee timelines.
  • Develop materials and systems for informing CEO/CFO of funding opportunities
  • In-depth understanding of the organization’s programs/services, policies and procedures.
  • Assists with Board of Directors, Administrative and Leadership meeting organization; collaborate with CEO to develop agenda and completion of minutes
  • Participates in strategic planning and assists with tracking progress towards strategic plan
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of local and statewide social service system.
  • Knowledge of best practices in behavioral health and childcare
  • Proactively addresses programmatic and financial needs of the organization
  • Ability to understand needs of the agency applying for funds as well as the agency providing the funds.
  • Ability to manage key projects concurrently
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameter
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences through documents and presentations.
  • Strong technological/computer skills (must be comfortable working with Microsoft Office 365).
  • Ability to be a team player and work with diverse populations.

Education and Experience:

Requires minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Human Service field, Education, Communication, Journalism with 5 years of proven experience in state and federal grant research, writing, reporting, and administration

Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance as required by law
