Overview
The Youth Mentor plays a vital role in guiding and supporting young individuals as they navigate personal challenges and developmental milestones. The YWAP after school program is a performing arts based program.

This position focuses on fostering positive relationships, providing educational support, and promoting personal growth among youth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and adolescents, demonstrating patience, empathy, performing arts skills, and strong communication skills.
Duties
- Have fun with the kids
- Lead performing arts based activities
- Assist kids with homework
- Assist with promoting the after school program
- Assist with coordinating fun community events
- Educate youth on various life skills, including conflict resolution, decision-making, and effective communication.
- Provide mentorship to children and adolescents, helping them set and achieve personal goals.
- Support youth in developing social skills through structured activities and discussions.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive support for each individual.
- Address behavioral health concerns by implementing strategies that promote emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for each mentee.
Experience
- Dance, acting, music, art or theater arts experience required
- Experience working with children or adolescents in various settings (e.g., childcare, mentoring programs).
- Familiarity with conflict management techniques to effectively address disputes among youth.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with young individuals.

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week
