Overview
The Youth Mentor plays a vital role in guiding and supporting young individuals as they navigate personal challenges and developmental milestones. The YWAP after school program is a performing arts based program.

This position focuses on fostering positive relationships, providing educational support, and promoting personal growth among youth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and adolescents, demonstrating patience, empathy, performing arts skills, and strong communication skills.

Duties

  • Have fun with the kids
  • Lead performing arts based activities
  • Assist kids with homework
  • Assist with promoting the after school program
  • Assist with coordinating fun community events
  • Educate youth on various life skills, including conflict resolution, decision-making, and effective communication.
  • Provide mentorship to children and adolescents, helping them set and achieve personal goals.
  • Support youth in developing social skills through structured activities and discussions.
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive support for each individual.
  • Address behavioral health concerns by implementing strategies that promote emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of interactions and progress for each mentee.

Experience

  • Dance, acting, music, art or theater arts experience required
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in various settings (e.g., childcare, mentoring programs).
  • Familiarity with conflict management techniques to effectively address disputes among youth.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with young individuals.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • After school
  • Choose your own hours
  • Evenings as needed
  • Evening shift
  • Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person

Salary : $17 - $18
