What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kids Club Lead Program Assistant - PT position at YSS?
YSS is searching for a creative, fun, and responsible part-time Lead Program Assistant to join our Kids Club Team!
The goal of Kids Club is to develop a safe, worthwhile, educational and fun experience for the children, aged kindergarten through middle school, who participate. As the Lead Program Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the day to day operation, planning, scheduling, and programming at assigned schools. This includes before and after school programming when school is in session, and full-day programming during in-service days, winter break, spring break, and summer. Additional responsibilities include:
- Implements day-to-day operations of the Kids Club program at designated site.
- Helps plan and implement activities for regular and full-program days; works with Site Supervisor in planning summer programs.
- Coordinates with community resources to identify recreational and educational activities.
- Teaches/tutors daily; assists in planning field trips.
- Conducts check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring authorized drop-offs and pickups.
- Supervises children in the program, monitoring behavior, participation, and performance.
- Helps create the menu, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
- Maintains positive relationships with children, parents, school staff, and colleagues.
- Supervises and schedules on-site staff. Finds substitutes when necessary.

Works five additional hours per week outside of program time to plan and complete administrative tasks.
- This time may fluctuate week to week depending on early outs and no school days.
- Collects and records tuition payments.
- Completes required paperwork and attends all meetings and training sessions.

MUST HAVES - Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must meet requirements for certification in childcare
- Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within three months of hire.
- A background in child development or child and family services.
- Knowledge of recreational/educational needs of children, understanding of child individual/group behavior, and the ability to organize group recreational and educational activities
SHOULD HAVES - Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in child development, education, or related field.
- Experience as a teacher and supervisor.
- Experience looking after, caring for, or supervising children.
- Ability to connect with children.
