At YSS, we are dedicated to creating hope and opportunity for youth and families. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Facilities Technician to join our team and help maintain safe, functional, and welcoming spaces across all our locations.
Position Overview:
The Lead Facilities Technician (Lead) will work alongside a talented team of repair, maintenance, landscaping, and grounds staff. This role ensures that YSS facilities, vehicles, furnishings, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the Lead will coordinate, supervise, and perform daily operations while overseeing staff and contractors as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Facilities Director and team to plan and execute daily activities.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks at YSS buildings and parking lots, including:
- Opening and closing office buildings.
- Operating power equipment and using various tools.
- Managing seasonal readiness and preventive maintenance programs.
- Supervise vendors, contractors, and staff to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Provide maintenance services to remote YSS locations as required.
- Maintain inventory by conducting reviews, discarding unnecessary items, and purchasing supplies following YSS policies.
- Monitor and maintain YSS vehicles, including minor maintenance, organizing repairs, and keeping detailed records.
- Use the YSS facility management system to manage work orders, generate quarterly building reports, update manuals, and handle administrative tasks.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for evening, weekend, and holiday emergencies.
- Oversee building permits and ensure compliance with city and state inspections.
- Assist in the bid process for projects and capital improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/equivalent.
- Four years trade experience to include carpentry, construction, facility repairs and maintenance, and custodial.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritizing multiple tasks and workloads.
- Ability to manage resources effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple other trade experience, including HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, and managing contractors.
- Experience with work order / ticketing systems
- Supervision of trades staff.
- Ability to use critical thinking skills to problems solve.
- Ability to convey information effectively through speech and writing skills.
