We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrical AutoCAD Drafter to create detailed electrical schematics, plant layouts, and plot plans for industrial automation and electrical systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in AutoCAD Electrical, Plant 3D, and general drafting of industrial electrical systems. This role involves collaborating with engineers, designers, and project teams to develop accurate and efficient electrical drawings for manufacturing, oil & gas, water treatment, and other industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Drafting & Design:
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Generate control panel layouts, conduit/cable tray routing, motor control circuits, and PLC I/O wiring diagrams.
- Create and update electrical drawings per industry standards and project specifications.
2. Plant 3D & Industrial Layouts:
- Utilize AutoCAD Plant 3D to design and draft electrical room layouts, conduit routing, cable tray layouts, and equipment placement.
- Integrate electrical systems within piping, mechanical, and structural layouts in Plant 3D.
- Develop plot plans, site plans, and general arrangements for industrial facilities.
3. Plot Plans & Facility Layouts:
- Design electrical distribution layouts, grounding systems, lighting plans, and substation layouts.
- Ensure spacing, clearances, and safety compliance in industrial electrical layouts.
- Coordinate with engineers and project teams to optimize layout efficiency.
4. Documentation & Standards Compliance:
- Maintain drawing revision control and adhere to industry standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.).
- Develop bill of materials (BOM), equipment schedules, and label/tag documentation.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of drawings throughout project lifecycles.
5. Collaboration & Project Support:
- Work closely with electrical engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure alignment of drawings with project requirements.
- Assist in as-built documentation and redline markups based on field modifications.
- Support field teams during installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning phases.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s degree, diploma, or certification in Electrical Drafting, CAD Design, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrical Drafter or a similar role.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for schematic and control panel drafting.
- Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D for electrical layouts and industrial facility design.
- Ability to develop panel schedules, wiring diagrams, and power distribution layouts.
- Familiarity with conduit/cable tray sizing, load calculations, and grounding design.
- Understanding of industrial electrical systems, PLC I/O drawings, and instrumentation wiring.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain drawing accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers and field personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as Revit MEP, Navisworks, or EPLAN.
- Knowledge of industrial automation and controls (PLC panel design, SCADA systems).
- Understanding of electrical code compliance (NEC, IEC, NFPA, IEEE, etc.).
Work Environment & Travel:
- Location: Office-based with occasional site visits for field verification and as-built updates.
- Travel: Limited, but some site visits may be required.
- Schedule: Full-time with flexibility for project deadlines.
