We are looking for a Vice President of Accounting and Finance to lead the charge in elevating our U.S. finance operations. This is a pivotol leadership role for a seasoned financial leader with end-to-end expertise in accounting, reporting, compliance, tax, budgeting, forcasting, and cash management. You bring order to complexity, lead with vision and accountability, and know how to scale financial systems that support ambitious growth. 

You've successfully built and led high-performing accounting and finance teams - both internal and outsourced - and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. With a strong foundation in real estate finance, you understand the intricacies of property-level reporting, stakeholder engagement, and investor relations. Most importantly, you're a strategic business partner who's energized by building the furture - and ready to help shape the next chapter of Yugo's global success. 

There is a wide range of responsibilities, you will need to be a self-starter and be (relatively) autonomous, at least enough to work across multiple time zones with several stakeholders. Crucially you are passionate about, and energized by, new projects and creating growth and contributing to the success of the business.

Responsibilities

Accounting & Reporting:

• Oversee all elements of financial reporting, management and budgeting for Yugo USA.
• As well as a US based team, oversee and drive the activities of an outsourced finance team.
• To relocate all elements of the finance function from Colorado to a new location in the USA.
• Retain controls and implement new controls to ensure financial accuracy.
• Maintain adherence to all local and federal tax and reporting requirements.
• Ensure financial compliance.
• Nurture junior team members to create a high performing team.
• Work closely with colleagues in other departments to ensure financial compliance and drive accurate reporting and financial compliance.
• Identify areas that fall below best practice and implement remedies to create a best in class function.
• Create and enforce requisite financial policies.
• Build effective working relationships with counterparts representing property investors or investment managers.
• Ensure the accuracy of corporate reporting and work with head office colleagues to improve the level of insight and forecasting capability.
• Work with internal and external partners to ensure audit deadlines are met.
• Ensure detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts together with compliance with US GAAP and internal policies.
• Directly oversees all accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and all general ledger activity
• Manage internal reporting process including projected cash flows at both the corporate and property level across the portfolio. Oversee the rollup of portfolio-wide information
• Maintain financial systems setups and report layouts including financial spreadsheet models
• Contribute to the preparation of key financial deliverables - KPI analyses, annual plans for forecasts and ROI assessments for various initiatives
• Oversee monthly review, analysis and reporting of the variances between the actual operating results of the corporate entities and its annual business plan

Other Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication and serve as a senior leader in discussions between Property Management Accounting, Asset Management, and the Global Executive Team
• Act as a strategic partner across the organization, delivering meaningful insight and financial decision support
• Acts as a primary financial executive responsible for oversight and implementation of all financial control policies and procedures in the USA.
• Monitors and reports on progress related to achieving operational and strategic objectives
• Interprets, analyzes, and reports on financial results for senior management and external auditors
• Work with 3rd party experts to drive an efficient tax compliance process
• Responsible for accounts filing, tax compliance and transfer pricing adherence for all companies and liaising with specialist advisors where necessary.
• Cultivation of stake-holder relationships, including banks, financiers, shareholders

Qualifications

Essential:

• Active CPA required with at least 15 years of experience.
• Knowledge of multifamily and commercial real estate fundamentals
• 5 years of experience leading an accounting team
• History with a fast-growing business
• Experience with Residential & Commercial property accounting including work paper preparation, capital expenditures and depreciation
• Experience scaling and developing high performing professional accounting team as part of a wider international group
• Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, superior financial and strategic planning skills and significant familiarity with financial statements, economic analysis, and fair value concepts
• Effective communication and leadership style

Desirable:

• Big Four public accounting firm a plus
• Experience within a Global Organization
• Real Estate or Property Management Industry with Experience in real estate acquisition and dispositions
• Experience in Entrata or Netsuite is a plus
