Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Specimen Collector to join our team at Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for collecting lab specimens and performing basic laboratory tests and reporting results.

Responsibilities:

  • Collecting blood and other bodily fluids from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Labeling and processing specimens for testing.
  • Operating various laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Reporting test results to healthcare providers and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of on-the-job training, including a course of study in medical terminology or anatomy and physiology, is necessary.
  • Certification as a phlebotomy technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Registry or equivalent national certification must be obtained within one year.
