PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Shipping & Receiving I supports warehouse operations verifying and recording pertinent information for incoming and outgoing shipments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains a personnel structure and staffing level to accomplish the warehouse and receiving functions in an effective and efficient manner.
- Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors and evaluates performance of warehouse and receiving associates; ensures their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations.
- Develops leads to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned team members.
- Receive incoming shipments and compare items to work orders provided by supervisor.
- Count items to ensure that the correct number have been received.
- Determine storage areas for incoming shipments and allocate appropriate space within the warehouse.
- Assist in physically moving incoming items to designated storage areas and supervise storage activities.
- Operate forklifts to pick heavy boxes and transport them to checking areas.
- Ascertain the quality and quantity of picked items and ensure that they are safely delivered to the correct locations. Record damaged or defective items and replace them according to company policies.
- Ascertain that all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled and that correlating documents are available with each shipment.
- Arrange for a carrier vehicle or pickup of inventory, equipment, supplies, etc.
- Assist with the Inventory Control responsibilities, parts check in and stocking duties.
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for delivering goods.
- Perform task in accordance with property, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Perform various daily housekeeping tasks, responsible for maintaining work and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion
- Perform other various administrative duties as needed, assigned and / or required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
- Adhere to security and safety policies.
