Job Responsibilities
Advance Physical and Intellectual competence
· Provide a balance between child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities.
· Provide an integrated unbiased curriculum that meets the needs of individual children.
· Plan and use experiences that promote language and literacy development.
· Develop and implement weekly lesson plans, projects and child assessments.
· Provide a balance between quiet and active learning activities.
· Use equipment and materials for indoor and outdoor play that promotes children’s physical development.
Support Social & Emotional Development and Provide Positive Guidance
· Provide hands-on, culturally diverse activities that develop positive self-esteem and social skills.
· Use and promote positive guidance techniques as directed
· Maintain routines with smooth transition periods.
· Speak with children at their level.
· Encourage children to be independent
· Follow the YWCA discipline policy and DCFS guidelines at all times.
· Provide a variety of social and emotionally appropriate activities
Maintain Positive & productive Relationships with Families
· Maintain daily positive communication with parents and families
· Promote an open, inviting atmosphere for families
· Prepare for and implement parent teacher conferences
Ensure a Well-Run, Purposeful Program Responsive to Individual Needs
· Assess each child’s need and development progress
· Assess the needs of each individual family and make referrals when needed
Maintain a Commitment to Professionalism
· Promote the centers Mission and Philosophy
· Support the center’s code for ethical conduct
· Engage in ongoing professional development to improve personnel and professional skills.
· Support the professional growth and development of co-workers by sharing materials, information and providing helpful feedback and encouragement.
· Attend staff meetings, workshops and trainings.
· Promote a positive, stimulating environment for the children
· Be respectful to the children, families, staff, and community partners at all times.
· Work in cooperation with the YWCA and Roe program requirements.
· Other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education
· Must pass a background check
· Must obtain and maintain a Gateway registry and professional development record.
· Must have experience working with children and families
· Must obtain all trainings required by the YWCA, DCFS and ExcleRate within 90 days of employment.
· Must get and maintain Valid CPR and First Aid Training
· Must attain 20 hours of training in Early Childhood annually
· Ability to work effectively with co-workers
· Must have a commitment to the YWCA mission and values

Not limited to but include: classroom laptop, classroom tablet, telephone, copy machine, laminating Machine, fax Machine, computer
Essential Physical Demands
Reading, writing, communication, lifting up to 60 pounds, bending, kneeling, pushing, standing, walking, running.
Working Conditions
Child oriented program that includes: air conditioned and non-airconditioned areas, outdoor and indoor program participation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
