How does this position make an impact on the community?
The Pathways Program team provides life-saving services—shelter, counseling and more—for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking.

Position Specific Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates resolution with crisis that may arise during the shift.
  • Meets potential residents; provides intake screening and placement into shelter during shift.
  • Provides trauma-centered and survivor-focused advocacy to residents in the shelter.
  • Understanding of the social and political complexities of sexual and domestic violence.
  • Answers crisis line calls on a rotation schedule, meet potential participants at secured location of response.

Some of what you’ll do in this position:

  • Coordinates and completes intakes with participants, including orientation and explanation of policies.
  • Maintains excellent boundaries, a high degree of confidentiality and ethical behavior.
  • Be assertive when necessary and effectively apply conflict management techniques.
  • Communicates effectively with a variety of individuals, including adult and child clients, peers, volunteers, and supervisors.
  • Orient new shelter residents into the program, ensuring they feel safe and settled.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma (required)
  • Has a valid driver’s license and can provide proof of auto insurance coverage. (required)
  • Must be able to pass a background check. (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, or equivalent education/experience (preferred but not required)
  • One year working with domestic violence, sexual assault or homelessness (preferred but not required)

What else you should know: The position is part-time, 24 hours per week, Wednesday 2-10pm and Thursday-Saturday 6:30-10:30pm. The base wage for this position starts at $18 hourly; higher wages would be based on relevant experience calculated using YWCA Missoula’s wage matrix.
