Job Purpose: Director is responsible for the oversight of the Powerhouse, including planning and implementation of programming, partnership outreach and service coordination, activities/events, budget and grant management, and other tasks related to the operational and programming functions of the Powerhouse. The Director collaborates with staff to tell the story of YWCA and the goals of the Powerhouse through press releases and marketing, presentations, public relations, and personal interactions throughout the community. The Director supports the YWCA mission by assisting with the writing and securing of grants for the Powerhouse.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
This position provides a unique opportunity to oversee the development of a community wellness and resource center that will empower families in SWVA. This community wellness and resource center will also assist in providing programming that serves families and individuals dealing with substance use and other challenges. The position will work with other staff to build a framework for services and programming through the Powerhouse and to collaborate with partners on their own programming. Networking with other providers, organizations, and potential partners will be key to the success of the center. The position will work closely with community stakeholders and consult with the YWCA CEO, Chief of Staff, Finance Manager, Senior Manager of Public Relations and Engagement, and other members of the Powerhouse team to manage the center and to identify, plan, organize, and drive a calendar of activities related to programs and/or projects. The position is accountable for meeting established benchmarks of service, including those related to grants. The person in this position enjoys learning and working in a fast-paced environment and overcoming obstacles to realize program and project success. This position serves as a trusted adviser who can be called upon to provide support and insight as part of the Executive Management team.
Center and People Management:
· Manages the Powerhouse Community Wellness and Resource Center and the interrelated pieces that make up the center’s offerings. Collaborates and coordinates with other partners on their programs and projects and supports the building of a robust referral network.
· Manages a team, providing guidance on their roles and development.
· Provides executive, administrative and program/project oversight and support in mission-focused organization expansion efforts.
· Plans, tracks, and optimizes the Powerhouse goals at big-picture level. Assures that all aspects of the programming move forward in day-to-day operations.
· Supports onboarding of new staff and facilitates departmental technology needs as related.
· Coordinates information for internal and external communications.
· Creates long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines.
· Delegates tasks to team members best positioned to complete them.
· Makes effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to conceptualize and implement center programming and activities.
· Communicates with executives or the board to keep the programming and goals of the Powerhouse aligned with the YWCA mission.
· Develops plans that identify resource and budgetary needs.
· Responsible for management of departmental administrative tasks, including inquiry follow-up and responses, Outlook and Zoom scheduling for meetings, and preparation and distribution of center-specific documents, presentation packets and PowerPoint presentations.
· Responsible for accurate data entry and data management for Powerhouse programmatic offerings and information.
· Performs quality control on the center’s programming and activities throughout development and implementation to maintain the standards expected.
· Improve processes and systems for handling, analyzing, and using data organization-wide, especially in the center’s programmatic and activity reporting.
· Creates executive reports and presentations for management as requested.
· Explores, pilots, and evaluates office technology solutions for efficiency improvements and data integrity.
· Compiles, analyzes, and verifies demographic information of past, present, and potential participants and partners.
· Assists in researching, writing, and securing grants supporting the Powerhouse Community Wellness and Resource Center.
· Assures that the physical facility is maintained in a professional and clean manner that adheres to all regulations and insurance needs.
Public Relations:
· Collaborates on creation of fundraising events and provides appropriate information for each.
· Collaborates on strategic marketing and PR for the center.
· Connects with regional leaders and inspirational figures to involve them in YWCA campaigns and events.
· Represents the Powerhouse in community PR and program/project review sessions (e.g., city government meetings, public hearings, grassroot community group gatherings, media interviews, etc.).
· Creates and oversees events that positively present the Powerhouse to the public.
· Creates and keeps updated an online email distribution list and disseminates appropriate PR materials.
· Highlights current programming through written materials, public presentations, and community interactions.
· Networks for partners to create new programming opportunities.
· Collaborates with other nonprofit entities in the region.
· Strengthens YWCA's relationships and connections in the community.
· Works with communities to help them develop plans for YWCA programming and projects.
Position Requirements:
· A minimum of a four-year degree in Business Management, Public or Nonprofit Management, Educational Administration, or related field and 4 years' experience in nonprofit or business management.
· Experience in managing a team working on diverse but interrelated job responsibilities.
· Experience in managing the needs of a community facility.
· Experience in grant/funding/budget management and new program implementation.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse group including partners, community and business leaders, colleagues, coalitions, community groups and volunteers.
· Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
· Strong problem solving and written/verbal communication skills.
· Ability to focus on continuous improvement in the center’s program delivery.
· Understanding of the community and partners and ability to communicate up, down and across the team.
· Ability to lead by influence and to interact effectively with project team members and community partners.

· Computer literacy for Excel spreadsheets, Gantt charts for project management, word processing and data collection.
