What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Finance position at YWCA ROCHESTER?
The Director of Finance will oversee the financial operations of YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County, ensuring fiscal responsibility, accountability, and sustainability. This position will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Finance department including accurate financial reporting, grants management, agency cash flow, setting and enforcing accounting policies and managing accounting software. with external funders. This role will be responsible for annual financial planning, annual audit process, compliance reporting and collaborating with the leadership team to align financial strategies.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare, manage and monitor annual operating budgets and staff salary analysis
2. Provide direct supervision and support to the Finance Department in performing their day-to-day functions.
3. Oversee finance department operations including all billings and grants, month end entries, posting all revenues and receipts, producing monthly financial statements and general ledger.
4. Provide analysis of financial reports for managers and President/CEO.
5. Prepare and submit annual budget, semi-annual reports, and annual consolidated fiscal report for oversight and regulatory agencies such as OASAS and Coordinated Care Services.
6. Ensure adequate funds are available for daily operations of the agency. Transfer funds from working capital to operating account as needed. Approve RFPs for payment up to maximum allowed by policy.
7. Act as the central point of contact with banks, insurance brokers, and other agencies as required
8. Review financial statements, research and resolve account discrepancies for multiple entities
9. Provide monthly variance reports to leaders across multiple entities

11. Notify President/CEO of any irregularities in finances, business or staff issues and make suggestions to resolve them
12. Compile information and participate in annual audit and reviews for multiple entities on an annual basis
13. Oversee the coordination of annual Agency audit and any related single audits required. Implement recommendations of audit management letter.
14. Monitor financial and compliance reporting for Agency entities.
15. Serve as lead staff person to the Investment Committee and the Audit Committee. Prepare reports and make presentations as needed to committees and Board of Directors. Implement recommendations on investments.
16. Ensure adequate internal controls are in place and current contracts with vendors such as the audit consultant are favorable for the agency.
17. Design accounting reports through Excel as needed.
18. Develop and implement annual finance work plan.
19. Demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to cultural differences.
20. Demonstrate and monitor compliance with all appropriate privacy and security standards as defined by the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- 5 years of experience in managing and leading people
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong commitment to follow through on inquiries and issues
- Strong analytical skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in computer operations including Excel
- Experience in MIP accounting software preferred
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Work well with details
- High degree of analytic and planning abilities
Additional Requirements
- Must possess a valid NYSDL and have access to a vehicle.

Usual human services office working conditions prevail. Must be willing to travel to conferences and community events.
