Position Summary
The FJC Lead Guide will play a key role in advancing YWCA Utah’s mission and movement by providing leadership and support to the Family Justice Center (FJC) guide team. This position is responsible for ensuring that survivors of domestic and sexual violence receive high-quality, trauma-informed care, advocacy, and light-touch case management services. The FJC Lead Guide will work collaboratively with the case management team and community partners to advocate for systemic change, build relationships, and engage in outreach efforts that strengthen YWCA’s commitment to community empowerment, justice, and racial equity.
The FJC Lead Guide will lead by example, mentoring the guide team, and ensuring that clients receive comprehensive support that promotes safety, stability, and long-term empowerment. This role also involves a focus on advocacy, policy reform, and community outreach, contributing to the broader movement to end domestic violence and sexual violence and ensure safety and justice for all survivors.
Essential Job functions
1. Guide Support and Supervision
- Supervise, mentor, and support Guides, providing guidance on best practices, crisis intervention, and client-centered services.
- Lead guide meetings, ensuring effective case planning and team collaboration to support clients in achieving their goals.
- Provide day-to-day support to the guide team to ensure timely and meaningful help is provided to all program participants.
- Hold weekly 1:1 Supervision meetings with direct reports, attending to staff capacity, performance, and sustainability.
- Participate in hiring and onboarding Guides in collaboration with the Director of Case Management.
2. Community Outreach and Tabling Events
-Coordinate and lead YWCA Utah’s presence at local events, conferences, and fairs by organizing tabling events to raise awareness about domestic and sexual violence, YWCA Utah services, and available resources.
- Train staff on how to represent YWCA Utah at tabling events, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge to engage the community, share educational materials, and connect individuals with resources.
- Maintain a comprehensive schedule of events, ensuring that YWCA Utah is visible and accessible to the community, and manage logistics for event participation (e.g., booth setup, materials, volunteer coordination).
- Engage the public through outreach at local events, providing information about YWCA Utah services, offering resource guides, and sharing safety planning tools.
- Collect data and feedback from event participants to inform outreach strategies and improve future event participation.
3. Crisis Counseling and Advocacy
- Maintain a small caseload of participants, providing crisis counseling, advocacy, and coaching to individuals and families in crisis due to domestic violence and/or sexual violence.
- Complete intakes for walk-in clients, assess for safety, and provide immediate support, resources, and referrals.
- Ensure a client-centered approach, assisting participants in setting self-determined goals for safety, housing, and self-sufficiency.
4. Case Coordination and Referrals
- Support Guides in coordinating referrals and connecting clients with appropriate community resources and services.
- Develop and implement safety and housing plans in collaboration with clients, case managers, and external agencies.
- Monitor and track progress in meeting program goals, ensuring case files are accurate and up to date.
5. Collaboration and Relationship Building
- Work closely with the FJC team, internal programs, external partners, and community agencies to ensure coordinated and holistic services for clients.
- Advocate for the access and use of community resources for program participants.
- Facilitate communication with other service providers and agencies, ensuring seamless client services.
6. Program and Team Development
- Provide regular training and development opportunities for the case management team, promoting continuous learning and team cohesion.
- Collaborate with the FJC Director to develop and implement strategies for program improvement and participant outcomes.
- Assist in maintaining staff capacity and ensuring a supportive and collaborative work environment.
7. Mission and Movement Representation
· Serve as the Family Justice Center’s representative for YWCA Utah’s mission and movement, actively promoting the organization’s values and initiatives across programs and in the community.
· Fulfill monthly responsibilities related to mission-driven activities, including attending meetings, contributing to advocacy efforts, and engaging with YWCA Utah campaigns and events.
· Commit to a year-long engagement, ensuring consistent representation and alignment with YWCA Utah’s goals and objectives.
8. Administrative and Compliance Responsibilities
- Ensure case files, documentation, and assessments are complete, accurate, and in compliance with YWCA Utah policies and legal requirements.
- Participate in regular supervision, staff meetings, and trainings.
- Maintain necessary certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and other relevant certifications.

Qualifications

Physical/Sensory Demands
Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; use telephone to converse with customers and employees; walk and stand for long periods of time; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. Travel to attend conferences, training, outreach and other events occurs routinely. Rarely required to lift up to 30 lbs.
