Position Summary :
The Staff Accountant's responsibilities include maintaining the following : general ledger, integrity of financial data, preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations, and other financial duties as appropriate. The Staff Accountant will work directly with the CFO to support the efficiency and productivity of the Finance Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Enforces proper accounting methods and procedures in the daily operations of the accounting department.
- Prepare all journal entries and analyses monthly for closing the general ledger.
- Preparing and reviewing monthly and year-end financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
- Provide oversight on fixed asset reporting, including recording additions, dispositions, and depreciation journal entries.
- Process cash receipts in the accounting system. Perform daily cash management and monthly bank reconciliations of all assigned bank accounts
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of all assigned general ledger accounts.
- Assist with developing the annual operating budget, including preparation, maintenance, review, and reporting.
- Assist with preparing schedules and reports for the annual audit, IRS Form 990.
- Processes and manage petty cash.
- Serve as backup for accounts payable processing, payroll functions, and grant accounting.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer with financial analysis, forecasting, and cash management.
- Play an active role in maintaining YWCA York’s accounting software, including updating the chart of accounts and report formatting.
- Adhere to internal control policies and procedures for the Association.
