What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Site Safety Coordinator position at ZA Construction LLC?
The Project Site Safety Coordinator at ZA Construction, LLC will assist the Safety Manager in overseeing all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) aspects and the safety initiatives of construction site projects. This role requires a skilled safety specialist with experience in construction safety coordination. This individual will play a crucial role in partnering with the project managers to ensure a safe working environment, adherence to regulatory requirements, compliance with safety regulations, and providing detailed documentation on safety practices throughout the project. Qualified applicants must be able to work Monday - Friday (full-time) and be available to work on weekends/holidays when necessary. Must be able to travel out-of-state often (transportation/lodging provided).
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with EHS regulations and company policies, and coordinate corrections with Project Manager.
- Identify potential hazards/risks and coordinate with the Project Manager to develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure that all personnel are familiar with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist Project Manager in ensuring compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, toolbox talks and safety training.
- Ensure the adequate and timely management and communication of any occupational incidents.
- Attend all daily and weekly planning/safety meetings to understand the project requirements and where safety hazards may be present.
- Serve alongside the Project Manager as a primary point of contact for all safety-related issues on the project.
- Communicate regularly with Safety Manager, Safety Compliance Officer, DOT Compliance Officer and Chief Administrative Officer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills required.
- Ability to work with employees, managers and customers in a high stress environment.
- Must be highly dependable and available for emergency calls.
- Must be proficient in the use of email, computers, Word, and Excel.
Education and Experience
- At least 1-2 years in safety compliance, preferably in production, construction, or other related fields
- Proficient and knowledgeable in OSHA, FRA, EPA regulations
- Associate degree in occupational health and safety or related field a plus
- OSHA 30 hour (1926 Construction)
