Piper Companies is seeking a Virtualization Engineer to join a leading internet security organization based in Reston, VA . The Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for building, managing, maintaining, and scaling virtual infrastructure. This position will be hybrid in Reston, VA!

Responsibilities of the Virtualization Engineer include :
- Design, deploy, and support VMware and Oracle KVM virtualization platforms.
- Monitor and maintain the virtual environment's health, performance, and capacity.
- Use Ansible, Python, and Shell for scripting and automation.
- Perform daily operations support, including system deployments, patching, installation, configuration, maintenance, and problem resolution.
- Document processes, procedures, configurations, and deployment plans.
- Provide incident response and root cause analysis for security vulnerabilities, performance issues, and system outages.
- Participate in team on-call rotation and planned weekend activities.
Qualifications for the Virtualization Engineer include :
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 8 years of operations administration experience managing mission-critical systems.
- Professional experience with Red Hat Linux system administration.
- Proficiency in automation using Ansible, Python, and Shell.
- Familiarity with networking protocols, system monitoring, and performance tools.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation for the Virtualization Engineer includes :
- Salary: $145,000 - $165,000
- Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays.
