Zama Massage Therapeutic Spa, designated leader of Spas in Portland Oregon with a 5-star reputation is looking for an Assistant Spa Manager to support our Spa Director in leading our Spa & Concierge team.

Responsibilities
- The Assistant Spa Manager plays a key and influential role in the day to day running of the spa to achieve the performance and service delivery synonymous with Zama’s reputation of 5 star customer care.
- Support the Spa Director in ensuring that the guest experience is in line with the expectations of the deliverance of excellence in care.
- Provides a positive, empowering, and productive work environment through setting an example and consistency of daily work habits and standards.
- Assist with managing the daily schedules, daily operations, maximizing booking schedules & public relations initiatives to increase spa visibility, client visits, and increase revenue.
- Ensure that opportunities within retail are set to maximize spend and reviewed weekly for control of inventory.
- Manage the treatment schedule daily to ensure it reflects and flexes to the needs of the business and to promote treatment revenue.
- Be responsible for building client relations, creating and managing comprehensive guest profiles, and coordinating with internal constituents to guarantee guests satisfaction.
- Assist with all annual performance management plans and employee reviews--Take responsibility for Health and Safety within the spa ensuring adherence to both statutory regulations and Company guidelines.
General Requirements
- Associates or preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management.
- ---Licensed Massage Therapist or Esthetician is a BONUS---
- 3-5 years of experience in Spa or Front of House Management
- Experience working within a busy spa environment at supervisory or manager level where excellent standards and service delivery are required.
- Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language, Spanish is helpful.
- Proven manager with excellent leadership and motivation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong communication who can lead by example.
- Positive and ‘can-do’ professional attitude.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
- Must have mathematical skills, technical aptitude and spa operation knowledge.
- Must have basic knowledge of computer programs including Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office Administration, Power Point and Internet applications.
- Knowledge of specific spa industry applications is desirable, such as Booker.
- Must have knowledge of current spa trends in the industry.
- Must be able to relate to all levels of management and colleagues.
- Must have technical awareness and knowledge of a wide variety of treatments particularly for the face and body.
- Must have knowledge of holistic concepts that relate to the well being of all guests in a spa environment.
- To always set a standard in professionalism, appearance and attitude as expected of all Spa colleagues.
- To be adaptable and accountable for all actions.
- You must be capable of performing presentations and training.
- Must have good delegation skills to effectively have many projects running at the same time.
- Establish strategies for achieving monthly service and retail targets.
- Assist Spa Director controlling costs of operational supplies and labor in the Spa.
- Manage the MVA insurance customers and be the liason between the client & the insurance billing team. Grow the MVA department, foster relationships between chiropractors and physical therapists in the neighborhood to grow that dept.
- Administrative tasks as requested & required; assist with payroll, order audits, time clocks, pay detail, insurance requirements, employee handbook edits, etc.
- Working closely with the Owner and Spa Director to assist with Marketing goals.
- Work in liaison with the Owner & Spa Director to develop attractive promotions
- Attend sales calls as and when is necessary, cold calling clients
- Work closely with E-mail Marketing team & Social Media Marketing Team in providing daily and weekly promotions.
- Frequent checks of equipment and facilities to ensure safety and prevent loss of equipment due to negligence or wear and tear.
- Signoff Checklists completed by Esti and LMT Leads and Assist Spa Director to ensure that standards and procedures have been understood and trained properly.
- Pass on any learned knowledge from shows or training, thereby being an avenue for industry information.
- Responsible for maintaining the high standard of treatment, service and attention to detail within the spa.
- Prepare the agenda for monthly meetings for Spa Management Team.
- To deal with any problems, inquiries and complaints from spa clientele.
- Remain on-call for the spa day or night and available to assist in person or by phone.
- Contacts IT whenever computer or modem issues arise.
