Job Summary:
The Pantry Coordinator for Zaman International provides critical support for the organization. In this role, you regularly interact with the public and act as the face of Zaman International. You ensure a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for our clients and donors. You excel in customer service, communications and pantry coordination which allows us to distribute food to an average of 450 families per month. Your ability to handle confidential or personal information appropriately is paramount. You report to the Director of Client Services. Pantry hours are 9 am-3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and you must be able to lift 40 lbs unassisted. Can be a full time position for the right candidate.
Essential Functions:
The Pantry Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the pantry and all its related affairs. Day to day activities may include:
- Stocking shelves & cold units efficiently, removing expired stock and quickly adding stock, while also making note of re-order needs.
- Placing food orders and maintaining accurate inventory.
- Maintain pantry hygiene: keeping display units tidy, ensuring garbage and pantry cleanliness.
- Direct and train pantry volunteers to ensure a rewarding volunteer experience for those volunteering within the pantry area.
- Record weight of food received by clients in the pantry appropriately.
- Answer client inquiries regarding products and item limits with grace and a respectful demeanor.
- Assist with welcoming clients in the pantry, explaining the shopping and check out process, as necessary.
- Conduct the check out process for clients, ensuring that authorizations and limits have been met, and accurately completing data entry.
- Assist clients needing help with loading groceries into vehicles.
- Communicate with Client Services Department staff as needed regarding client interactions.
- Note client feedback on items stocked and client experience, suggest improvement opportunities to the Director of Client Services.
- Determine item limits and post limit signs in accordance with inventory and supply when appropriate.
- Implement grant projects (such as displays related to promoting healthy food choice,) as assigned.
- Appropriately document order receipts and submit invoices for payment.
- Assist with order pick ups when needed.
Enter pantry data into Zaman database.
Job Specifications:
Candidates must have a GED or high school diploma. Secondary education or experience in non-profit work, food management, or hospitality is helpful.
Candidates must be able and willing to lift over 40 lbs, unassisted.
Candidates must be fluent in English.
Candidates must have computer skills and be able to use excel and other software programs.
Candidates must be willing to provide a one year commitment.
