Printer III operates under the general supervision of a Supervisor but works independently and provides guidance to other production staff as needed. As a floor leader, they specialize in operating digital color printers and have extensive experience with black-and-white (BW) digital press equipment. They independently use various software applications to troubleshoot file issues and adjust colors as required. This includes preparing complex digital jobs that require extensive troubleshooting or pagination setup.
Additionally, the Printer III sets up and operates finishing equipment necessary to complete work orders and ensures all jobs meet accuracy and quality standards. They actively engage in customer service, taking responsibility for maintaining professional and respectful relationships.
Responsibilities:

- Work independently and provide direction to production staff in the absence of a supervisor.
- Complete print jobs accurately within established deadlines and promptly notify the supervisor of any issues that may cause delays.
- Process electronic files or scan materials for printing, troubleshoot electronic files, and paginate jobs on BW or color digital presses.
- Analyze colors and make necessary adjustments to achieve accurate color matching or create visually appealing results.
- Inspect all jobs for accuracy and quality before preparing them for delivery, including coordinating couriers when necessary.
- Provide accurate cost estimates for standard color and complex BW print jobs. Maintain daily records, including job tracking logs, POD orders, Form POs, and reports.
- Operate various press and finishing equipment efficiently to meet deadlines while ensuring the highest quality. Document any verbal communication with customers or managers on work requests.
- Monitor paper and supply inventories, notifying the supervisor when stock or supplies need replenishing.
- Assist the supervisor in optimizing workflow and adhering to established procedures.
- Contribute as a team member by sharing ideas, providing backup support, and participating in cross-training to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Support the department in achieving Gallup goals.

Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in a fast-paced printing environment.
- Proficiency in Xerox Free Flow Software or equivalent industry software for digital printing preparation and imposition.
- Ability to perform routine and complex digital print job preparations.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Pit Stop) or completion of training for these applications within one year of hire.
- Understanding of color management theory and industry standards such as SNAP/GrayCol to ensure print quality (or pass a written test on SNAP Guidelines within six months of hire).
- Ability to inspect electronic files and printed materials for quality assurance.
- Strong color differentiation skills to perform color checks and adjustments.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively under stress and deadlines.
- Flexible scheduling to accommodate late job requests and ensure timely completion of work.
- Hands-on experience with digital presses (e.g., Xerox DocuTecs/DC8000, Rizzos, or comparable equipment) for high-quality color and BW production.
- Proficiency with PC and/or Mac operating systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Publisher).
- Experience with finishing equipment such as stitch and trim machines (Borg), desktop power folders, guillotines, Duplo, shrink wrap machines, hole punchers, glue padders, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to perform minor maintenance on digital presses and finishing equipment.
- Familiarity with the FH Host system for hospital form orders.
- Experience operating offset or Ryobi presses.
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
