Job Description
TOWER POSITION -100% ONSITE. Must reside in Columbus, OH or surrounding area.
Scope of Position
Responsible for planning and leading small to medium scaled projects under the guidance of a Project Manager/Sr. Project Manager Portfolio or Program Manager or Team Manager Associate Director. Project Analyst coordinates teams of individuals (usually under 10 project resources) and delivers healthcare technology solutions that meet the needs of customers.
Position Summary
As a member of the IT Portfolio Management Office, the Project Analyst serves as a leader of healthcare IT initiatives of small to medium complexity and may be assigned to support components of larger high complexity initiatives. These requirements are carried out by applying industry standards based on the project lifecycle of Initiation, Planning, Execution, Transition and Close. The Project Analyst performs the essential functions required to ensure consistent, quality and successful delivery, while working within competing demands of scope, schedule, cost, risk, and stakeholder expectations. The Project Analyst will have a solid project management core skill set as well as the ability to interact with all levels of staff and executives (sometimes under guidance), and possibly even patients. The Project Analyst will have the ability to multi-task and balance numerous priorities, project details, and special assignments, while demonstrating qualities of trust, teamwork and transparency, while ensuring that all work is managed to maximize customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Project Analyst maintains a focus on personal and professional development to be able to build mastery in project management and process maturity.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties of this position are performed under guidance of a Portfolio or Program Manager or Associate Director Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager. Most assignments completed will be subject to review and approval of the Team Manager.
Scope Development (25%)
-Formulates/defines project scope objectives in a collaborative manner with our business customers, IT technical staff and the PMO through independent research and fact-finding in order to understand the needs of the project and estimate the effort in terms of time and money.
-Working with the Portfolio or Program Manager Project Manager/Sr. Project Manager, ensures formal acceptance of the project scope; ensures that the scope and stated goals include all the required work to complete the project.
Project Life Cycle Management (50%)
-Prepares project charters to formally initiate the project and secures sign-off by the sponsor.
-Works under guidance of a Project Manager/Sr. Project Manager to acquire the technical staff needed for effective completion of the project.
-Performs planning activities with project team members to determine how the technology will address the customer’s need.
-May assist during planning with preparation of department budgets by providing budgetary assessments of proposed hardware/software and purchased services associated with the project.
-On occasion, assists the Project Manager/Sr. Project Manager in planning and preparation of requests for proposals for technology products deemed a part of the solution.
-Performs aspects of schedule and task management and negotiates start and finish dates with the customer, then builds activities and baselines the project schedule.
-Ensures development of project deliverables by project team members as stated in the Medical Center Organizational Delivery Methodology (ODM).
-Collects, analyzes and summarizes information from departments related to project deliverables and goals.
-Tracks and manages project schedules to ensure delivery of milestones agreed to and approved by the customer.
-Tracks and reports on project progress, risks and issues within the PMO and to project stakeholders.
-Leads and motivates project team members.
-Develops and communicates implementation plans, project timetables and variances to the project baseline.
-Keeps IT and key business partners informed of project issues and risks and escalates appropriately based on escalation policy.
-Facilitates project meetings which includes preparing agendas, documenting minutes and logging decision and action items.
-Communicates with project resources about project milestones and deliverables to ensure they are completed on time.
-Completes status reports to communicate planned vs. actual project performance.
-In coordination with the Project Manager/Sr. Project Manager assures accurate communication and messaging throughout the project.
-Engages in multiple project initiatives simultaneously.
Professional Development (15 %)
-Attends PMI sponsored training to accumulate professional development credits towards certification and/or certification renewal.
-Participates in IT and PMO training to increase awareness and knowledge of project management methodology and other industry best practices widely used in healthcare.
-Regularly works with peers to innovate new templates and tools that help to reinforce delivery quality and support an excellent customer experience.
-Acquires membership in a PMI chapter and/or project management special interest group.
Other (10%)
-Reads and responds to (as appropriate) work-related communications.
-Creates and manages documentation repository/training guides/operational procedures
-Maintains our directed computer based learning on an annual basis.

Minimum Qualifications For Hire
-Four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or equivalent combination of experience/education.
-Minimum of three (3 ) years within an IT organization, along with programming and/or analysis experience.
-General understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC),
-Ability to lead a team of developers, analysts, and consultants, under the direction of a seasoned Project Manager/Sr. Project Manager.
-Experience with requirements gathering and analysis.
-Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence.
-Possess strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuade others, and gains understanding.
-Possess project coordination skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple small to medium sized projects.
-Possess the ability to prioritize, coordinate, and delegate work according to accomplish project objectives.
-Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with IT teams, executive management, and the user community.
-Possess organizational skills and is detail oriented.
-Can thrive in a fast paced, matrixed environment.
-Must have interest in pursuing Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
