What’s the role?
The Tax Analyst will be a key member of the Zeiss group NA tax team. He/she is primarily responsible for supporting the tax compliance and tax accounting process of Zeiss North America operation. Candidates are expected to work independently and be able to recognize tax issues and recommend solutions. Additionally, candidates must possess strong communications skills and a professional demeanor. The position reports to Sr. Tax Manager.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
- Prepare Form 5471s, 5472s, 1042s, 8802s, 1120F and other miscellaneous filings. Review information needed to file Form 1099s.
- Prepare and make quarterly estimated tax payment calculations, & extension tax payment calculations.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information.
- Assist in preparing and processing federal and multistate income tax returns / franchise tax returns, including separate company, consolidated and unitary filings, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain and update tax calendar.
- Prepare and maintain fixed assets reports for all operating units.
- Assist senior tax analysts in the preparation of monthly / yearly closings.
- Assist in preparing mid-year and year-end tax provisions, including related footnotes and journal entries.
- Maintain, update and reconcile current and deferred tax accounts.
- Research technical tax matters and discuss with other team members.
- Assist in providing practical, solution-focused responses to tax issues.
- Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, to tax as well as non-tax personnel.
- Assist in income tax audits and respond to tax authorities’ inquiries.
- Assist in responding timely to notices from various tax authorities.
- Maintain accurate and organized tax records.
- Take initiatives on process improvement.
- Work collaboratively with internal employees and external individuals on various projects.

Do you qualify?
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of corporate tax experience from public accounting firms or large multinational corporation.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Solid knowledge in federal and multistate income tax compliance.
- Comprehensive use of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel and Word.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively toward deadlines independently and with others.
- Ability to work with a sense of personal responsibility and integrity.
- Be a self-starter and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
The annual pay range for this position is $76,000– $95,000
The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions. ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
