Job Summary:
This candidate will develop and coordinate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificates of Waiver or Authorization (COAs) to operate unmanned systems within the National Airspace System (NAS) for USSOCOM components and USAF units.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and advise the government in negotiating and implementing FAA & DoD UAS integration policy and procedures for USSOCOM components and USAF units as directed.
- Know the setting, features and operation of aircraft flight control systems.
- Manage flight control surfaces, cockpit controls, connections, and operating mechanisms required to control the flight direction of an aircraft.
- Operate aircraft engine controls in order to change aircraft speed.
- Thoroughly understand the major activities in air traffic management, to include air traffic control, air traffic flow management, and aeronautic information services.
- Total understand of the rules and regulations governing air transport to include international law.
- Understand the tasks performed by air traffic controllers, including Interaction and effective communication between aircraft and air traffic controllers.
- Execution of follow-up activities and ensuring smooth operations during flights.
- Understand the science of celestial navigation and position fixing by using specialized measuring equipment.
- Ensuring data communication is performed through digital means such as computers, telephone or e-mail.
- Monitor the effective implementation of the Flexible Use of Airspace (FUA) concept at various levels.
Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must have a Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Must be a Certified Air Traffic Controller with relevant experience to sUAS integration with depth knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS), FAAO 7110.65, 14 CFR Part 91, and 14 CFR Part 107
- Can be substituted by FAA certified Private Pilot.
- Work confidently in a group in general aviation services, in which each individual operates in their own area of responsibility to reach a common goal, such as a good customer interaction, air safety, and aircraft maintenance.
- Successful background and drug screening check.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with coordination of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certificates of Waiver or Authorizations and Airspace Management.
- Use of various types of communication channels such as verbal, handwritten, digital and telephonic communication with the purpose of constructing and sharing ideas or information.
- Work with computer data systems such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Interpret charts, maps, graphics, and other pictorial presentations used in place of the written word.
