Site EHS Specialist, Iowa Falls, IA

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Site EHS Specialist is responsible for preventing incidents and ensuring that workers and the job site are following all relevant environmental, health and safety regulations. It is critical to foster a culture of “Safety First” by encouraging teamwork and identifying potential hazards. The Site EHS Specialist will implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
· Compliance: Ensure the job site follows all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations.
· Risk Assessment and Developing Safety Protocols. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards on the project and develop proactive measures to mitigate risks.
· Perform Site Safety Inspections: Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity; stop any unsafe acts or processes.
· Conduct Safety Training and Meetings. Develop and delivery comprehensive EHS training programs for all workers.
· Maintain Accurate Records and Documentation: Document all ZRP EHS training, meeting minutes, certificates, and records to verify compliance with EHS requirements.
· Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Director of EHS, project managers, supervisors, and workers to promote a “Safety First” culture. Communicate safety concerns to the management team and advocate for necessary EHS improvements.
· Support the Director of EHS: Create, modify and update the Z Winds EHS Manual for deployment.
· Record Safety Incidents and Concerns: Investigate incidents and near misses to determine causes. Document findings and recommend corrective actions. Timely report safety incidents to management and relevant authorities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Experience with Wind Energy Operations and EHS compliance.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all team members.
· Proficient with writing EHS Incident Report and customer communication.
· In-depth knowledge of EHS legislation, compliance requirements, and procedures.
· Experience with site specific turbine repair and repower campaigns.
· Proficient in MS Office. ERP experience a plus.
· Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
· Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
· Associate’s degree in science/technical field. Bachelor’s degree a plus.
· Proven experience as a Site Tech, Lead Tech, EHS Specialist or Manager.
· Experience with OSHA requirements and crane operations for heavy loads.
· Site Operations and EHS experience (5 years).
· Military experience is a plus.
· Experience in writing incident reports and determining contributing factors and root cause.
· Familiar with policies for the environment, health and safety compliance.
· Wind Turbine Climb certification preferred.
