Description:
The Director of Operations is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for a manufacturing plant to produce products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
Include the following duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Direct multiple departments: Production, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Scheduling and Safety.
- Promote OTD (on time delivery) to our customers. By addressing efficiency, productivity process constraints and bottlenecks and providing process improvements to the current process.
- Understand capacity capabilities and constraints
- Monitoring the production processes and ensuring that they are adequate to meet the production schedule.
- Ensure and/or improve product quality standards.
- Ensure compliance and certification with AS9100 Standards
- Scrap reduction and rework
- Mentor, develop and lead management team, direct and indirect reports.
- Ensure that all employees are working safely and following all safety rules.
- Propose the annual budget and seek efficiency improvements to generate cost-saving opportunities.
- Make recommendations to the Executive Team for Capital Expenditures within the areas.

- A proven history of leading and implementing process improvements to promote increases in efficiency and productivity.
- Demonstrated ability to determine root cause, implement action items and develop a conclusion.
- Hands-on manager willing to learn and become an expert in the details of the processes.
- Demonstrated leadership to promote several departments.
- Ability to motivate and engage employees to promote process improvements.
- Ability to deal with problems, whether it’s personnel and/or operational and the ability to provide guidance or direction to resolve the issue.
- Experienced in working with labor intensive, custom manufacturing processes.
- Special Note: This is a multi-work center manufacturing plant, not a typical assembly line plant, knowledge of aluminum, paint process, anodize, hydraulic presses, draw tooling, welding, quality standards for the government and the aerospace industry is a huge plus.
MUST HAVES:
- Must have experience working in a multi-work center manufacturing plant, not an assembly line plant
- Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of proven upper management experience, (manager or above),
- Ability to manage, develop, mentor and direct employees effectively
- Analytical minded and attention to detail
- Lean manufacturing and/or understanding with demonstrated experience: Certified Lean Six Sigma is a plus
- Must be proficient in Excel: pivot tables, spreadsheets, charts, and other Microsoft tools
- Program management background
- Great verbal and written communication skills
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
