SUMMARY

There are (2) areas of responsibility:

Planner: The Planner is responsible for preparing work instruction and the sequence of operations for production orders, reworks, and changes.

Estimator: The Estimator is responsible for estimating job costs for proposals and communicating lead times and pricing.

Design Engineering experience is an advantage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Planner:

  • Creates work instruction and sequence of operations for fabrication and assembly for production workers.
  • Communicate effectively with department supervisors and shop personnel to determine methods of fabrication.
  • Prepares lists of required materials, tools, and equipment needed for parts and assemblies.
  • Reviews sales orders, quotes, and drawings for best method of fabrication.
  • Determines the type of tooling required for producing parts in manufacturing.
  • Reviews past runs for any changes in operations, sequence, or tooling.
  • Lead meetings relating to major jobs to discuss “best practices” and methods of manufacturing.
  • Performs time studies and estimates for improvements; assigns work centers and setup times and run times.
  • Incorporate drawing changes into the work order/traveler.
  • Redlines work orders as required.
  • Creates Work Orders and implements improvements.
  • Uses ERP for the creation of Engineering Masters.
  • Checks non-complex drawings and redlines as required.
  • Assigned tasks as assigned.

Estimator:

  • Estimate costs and lead times for custom products and proposals.
  • Identifies and creates standard costing.
  • Works with Engineering, Tooling, Planning and Purchasing to develop costs in Excel.

QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • A four-year degree required with a focus on Manufacturing Engineer Technology with two years’ related experience. Other Engineering degrees accepted and/or extensive experience in Planning and Estimating custom parts and assemblies.
  • Ability to read drawings and understand manufacturing methods of fabrication.
  • Experience using ERP systems (Infor) and creating work orders.
  • Costing with Excel.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, sketches, and specifications.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Person who is relationship driven and is a collaborator.
  • Ability to perform advanced CAD operations including 3d modeling and detailing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable military specifications.
  • Analytical person and who is “hands on”.
  • Manufacturing knowledge; forming, welding, finishing, and assemblies.
  • Behaves courteously to co-workers and customers, follows directions of supervisors and refrains from loud, aggressive, or profane language and behavior.
  • Regular work attendance.
