Job Summary:
Join Our Team! We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to handle key financial tasks, including wire transfers, accounts payable, and account reconciliation. In this role, you’ll ensure the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in compliance with GAAP, maintain the general ledger, prepare various financial statements and reports, and supervise and mentor an Accounting Associate.
Position Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles (GAAP).
- Submit required forms and process monthly sales tax payments in accordance with state and local tax regulations.
- Monitor bank statements regularly to track and verify credit card transactions, EFT/ACH payments, and other financial activities.
- Conduct collection calls and follow up on outstanding customer payments to maintain healthy cash flow and reduce past-due balances.
- Submit and verify employee hours and sales commissions for payroll processing on a biweekly basis.
- Oversee the year-end physical inventory of our warehouse – as a distribution company, this is an all-hands-on-deck project to reconcile.
- Ensure the daily processing of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and order entries. This includes supervising and providing career development opportunities for one Accounting Associate.
- Work closely with senior management on various finance-related projects and ad hoc tasks to support business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Corporate Controller within our other commonly owned entities.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related field; or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an Accounting role, preferably in distribution, but open to any industry
- At least a limited understanding of inventory management practices
- Familiarity with S Corp Organizations
- Strong computer skills, including Excel and Microsoft Word
- Excellent phone and communication skills for both internal employees and external customers and vendors of all backgrounds
- Ability to be a quick learner and the versatility to handle multiple responsibilities
- Attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially when working with senior management
