What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intermodal Logistics Coordinator position at ZIM?
Main Purpose of the Role:
To provide quotes and routes for inland container movements; secure rates; facilitate inland movement of containers via Rail, Truck, Barge; setting up invoices in SAP, transmitting rail bills.
Main Tasks:
- Provide accurate quotes/rates for intermodal freight, bids and spot business.
- Support commercial efforts to maximize profitability by finding the most cost effective and efficient routing for new and existing business.
- Recommend changes in routing when alternate routes are preferred.
- Negotiate rates with truckers for spot business and new routes.
- Update ZIMAPS quarterly and for missing costs as needed.
- Maintain routing and route preference order in IQ Ship. Create routes when auto routing is missing, expired, or not logical.
- Update costs in routes when missing.
- Manage changes to specific vendors/routing in day to day as required.
- Execute & manage rail billings, and resolve problems as they arise.
Requirements:
- High School Degree, Bachelor’s (a plus).
- 3 years’ experience preferred in various LOG operating positions.
- Logistics / Operation experience in Container Shipping industry (a plus).
