Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join our Pre-Construction team. This is a long-term, full-time opportunity to work alongside our Pre-Construction Lead on estimating, quoting, and sales management. You'll play a key role in helping win and set up successful residential and commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Pre-Construction Lead in various sales and estimating tasks
- Represent Zimmerman Building Company in customer meetings and site visits
- Assist with material sourcing, job profitability analysis, and cost tracking
- Prepare bids, estimates, and client selections for residential and commercial projects
- Facilitate smooth project handoffs between Pre-Construction and Production teams
- Participate in sales calls and client interactions as needed
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism and client communication
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- 4-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and drug-free workplace
- Ability to perform takeoffs from drawings and assist in project coordination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction management software
Preferred but Not Required
- Background in construction, architecture, or engineering
- Familiarity with estimating or construction management software
- Eagerness to learn technical aspects of the construction industry
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $60,000–$80,000, depending on experience
- Typical workweek: 40–45 hours (varies by season/project flow)
