Zingerman’s Marketing Director
The Marketing Director leads an amazing team of professionals in supporting the Zingerman’s Community of Businesses (ZCoB), a $85 million dollar organization made up of 11 operating businesses and 17 managing partners. This position leads the Zingerman's Marketing team and is an active contributor to content creation activities. In addition to leading the Marketing function of ZingNet, this key role supports marketing efforts across the ZCoB and for the Zingerman’s Brand.
Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000
Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer
Direct Reports: Zingerman's Creative Services Design and Content Team
Successful Candidates will have the following Prior Experience
(with demonstrated success):
- A Bachelor or Master degree in Business, or related degree is desired.
- 5-10 years experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, promotion, graphic design, digital media, ideally in a food service, retail, or hospitality environment.
- Has worked in a leadership and people management role.
- Created Strategic marketing plans and marketing plans for small and medium sized enterprises.
- Has successfully defined and led effective marketing programs for small to medium-sized enterprises.
- Previous experience in establishing and growing strong business relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects across businesses, levels of organizational hierarchy, and varied skill sets, ensuring programs deliver business impact.
Primary Responsibilities of Zingerman’s Marketing Director:
- Promotes and models Zingerman’s Guiding Principles, Servant Leadership, and 3 Bottom Lines to managing partners, managers, and staff.
- Works as a consultative expert and advises businesses regarding the resources necessary to achieve their marketing objectives.
- Articulate and manage Zingerman’s desired brand position.
- Understand and enhance current brand position and reputation in the market.
- Define strategies to influence and align market position.
- Develop metrics for the 3 Zingerman’s bottom lines to evaluate success of Brand and Brand Strategy.
- Create and manage DOR (Department Operating Report metrics) for Zingerman’s Marketers Group.
- Ensure market messages, images, branding, etc, adhere to and agree with ZCoB and businesses’ style guides, including maintaining integrity of trademarks.
- Champion and evolve Zingerman’s market voice, by engaging, developing internal experts and storytellers.
- Coordinate and create and engage communications strategy for the ZCoB (social media, web, e-news, etc).
- Engage ZCoB in identifying experts and storytellers for the market.
- Develop ability of ZCoBbers to represent Zingerman’s and their businesses in the market.
- Lead Zingerman’s relationship-building with media partners’ efforts to strategically build awareness of the organization through stories and various media.
- Research and share new developments and trends in marketing, sales, and communications for ZCoB industries.
- Lead Zingerman’s Digital, Print, and Illustration work, ensuring design elements that support ZCoB branding strategies.
- Ensure project work is prioritized and appropriate resources are allocated in both ZCS and in the Zingerman's businesses to effectively achieve business goals.
- Operate as champion and supporter of Zingerman’s look-and-feel.
- Budgeting, planning aligned with Partner Group and ZIP Board.
- Create growth for ZIP (Zingerman’s Intellectual Property) by attracting new business opportunities to the ZCoB.
- Primary contact for media inquiries to the ZCoB.
- Teach Zingerman’s internal and external training related to marketing concepts. Includes updating existing class content and developing new content.
