A Zink auto cutter machine operator is a detailed-oriented employee, who sets up and operates a computerized cutting machine, which automatically cuts materials , in Zinks case, paper, according to pre-programmed patterns and specifications, often using a computer-aided design (CAD) system to control the cutting process; their primary responsibility is to load and unload materials, monitor the machine operation, and ensure accurate cuts are made.
Key responsibilities of an auto cutter machine operator:
- Loading materials:
Placing the material to be cut onto the machine's cutting table, aligning it precisely according to the cutting pattern.
- Programming the machine:
Inputting cutting parameters like size, shape, and cutting depth using a computer interface.
- Quality control:
Inspecting cut pieces for accuracy and consistency, checking for defects or errors. Examines, measures, and weighs materials or products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring devices, such as rulers, micrometers, or scales
- Machine maintenance:
Performing basic cleaning and upkeep of the cutting machine, identifying and reporting any malfunctions.
- Following safety procedures:
Adhering to safety guidelines when operating the machine, including proper handling of materials and wearing appropriate protective gear.
- Machine Sanitation:
Clean machine blades, clean up Scrap produced by the auto cutter machine and perform general clean-up of department at shift end
Daily Job Requirements & Tasks
- Cutting and stacking cut paper in accordance with the schedule and determining count by measuring/counting finished product.
- Follow instructions on batch tickets regarding cutting, packaging, and samples and verifying rule-ups and measurements on products.
- Notify the supervisor of any situation that may jeopardize quality, production schedule or staffing.
- Perform maintenance on the machine and replace blades, when needed.
- Completing and submitting paperwork with batch tickets.
- Communicate important information to co-workers.
- Measuring and cutting using the computerized machine, using basic math skills, and forklift.
- Work on an assembly line and help with processing Zink paper.
Qualifications
- Decision-making ability
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow through on completion
- Strong time management skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to take directions and work well as a team or independently
- Strong math aptitude
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Make logical decisions based on experience and/or company policy
Communication Skills
- Communicate effectively both written and orally as well as with other departments and shifts
- Always maintain a professional demeanor especially while representing IPC
- Identify problems with schedules, product runs, products produced, or machinery
- To meet or exceed customer expectations
- Sunday to Wednesday schedule 6 am to 4:30 pm or Tuesday to Friday Schedule 6 am -4:30pm
- Reports to the Finishing Manager
- Work with various departments in plant operations
- Authority to stop production for non-conforming quality or safety compliance
- To support company policies and procedures
- Report non-conforming material and safety non-compliance to management
- Make decisions on accept or reject according to quality specifications
We are hiring immediately, with a start date as soon as Monday, March 10, 2025.. This is a Daytime Shift: 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, Sunday through Wednesday or Tuesday through Friday - 4 Ten-hour shifts.
