About DCPH-A

The Armed Forces Health Surveillance Division (AFHSD) Global Emerging Infections Surveillance (GEIS) Branch funds biosurveillance capabilities at Department of Defense (DoD) laboratories and coordinates militarily relevant infectious disease surveillance worldwide, providing critical information for decision-making. In support of the DoD’s biodefense goals, the GEIS Branch coordinates and manages data generated from human, animal, environmental, and wastewater surveillance samples using cutting edge technology such as next generation sequencing to detect and characterize novel and emerging pathogens.
